Yes, lots of interpretations are possible. But right now it what do all the Premiership players think the statement is that they are making. I say it is “no to racism”.
Would be good if someone asked them to be fair.

I consider myself reasonably well informed, don’t read into it like some of you appear to. I’ve good intuition as well.

I hope so. Knew it would happen.

The whole thing would have been dropped after 3 games in a normal situation because you would have 40000 booing.

Fuck blm , fucking marxist cunts.

And fuck the right on media turning on fans, just another example of disconnect with ordinary people.

I've asked you a couple of times, but you seem not to have noticed.

Are you equally OK with the black power raised fist?

Glad you spotted the levity, mate. You have previously misconstrued it as a personal attack which is not usually my intention nor style (I am sure you will find the odd lapse though).

I don't disagree with your last post.

And yes I believe we are generally and increasingly getting less racist as a society for the reasons you say. The trouble is, in the social media age, the extremes on both sides of the argument are very adept at pretending that's not the case and furthering their own agendas.

And those who should - and do - know better are too willing to go along for the ride.

"my usual forthright manner"

I do appreciate the levity.

But I try things that I don't think will succeed, like raising the level of debate on here. One of the reasons I like to respond to your posts and sometimes get frustrated with them. You said similar to that about journalism a while ago, I forget in what context.

I am sorry if I gave the impression that I thought we should do nothing. I said it is probably false to say doing - anything - is better than doing nothing. Absolutely monumental changes are needed in the racial system I know the best - at home: scrapping the reserve system, for one. But a lot have a lot invested in that.

Here, I think we need to reduce programs that place people in ethnic groups, instead of continuing to reaffirm divisions. To name one thing.

The solution that looks and feels good now is often not the "right thing" in the long term.

The biggest cure for racism I knew was just living with people. Even if they have their problems, you can see where they are coming from. I hope that comes across in what I post.

Despite fringe extremism both legitimately on the rise and overhyped, do you believe we are overall getting less racist by the generation through the natural growth of travel and communication?

Fo - morning mate
Consider this, the very last thing that BLM want, is genuine equality and 'colour blindness'
They exist to provoke discord and serve their aims, and nothing but
As it happens, you can consider the whole identity politics/ woke crowd in that too
It's abject bollox and has driven a far greater wedge, awakening regular decent people to the differences rather than similarities between people

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
Irons. Not intended to be noble, almost the opposite really.

To answer your points in my usual forthright manner; where we are now is clearly not the right thing but at least the question is being raised and discussed. What we need is for that discussion to take an adult form.

Doing nothing is also part of the problem so I can't agree with your conclusion.

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
Fo the Communist 11:29 Thu Dec 10

That is true. And feels noble.

I would say though based on my personal experience with societal, especially government, intervention in racial inequality - like the Reserve system and other programs - trying to the "right thing" has:

1) changed over time - are we sure this is the final form of the "right thing"?

2) made things worse - that is certainly the case in my recent observations in the systems I knew growing up

So do you think saying doing anything is better than doing nothing is maybe reductionist at best and false at worst?

In terms of PR, calling it "Social Media" sits up there with calling the moment of creation "The Big Bang".

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
Personally, there's a minority who are actually racist.

We're in a culture where people like to be controversial, so they'll say things to get a reaction and a rise out of people without really meaning what they say.

Social Media is a huge part of this issue, people feel like they can say what they like behind a computer without any repercussion.

There are plenty of things people buy into because its the right thing to do rather than in anticipation of success.

Us West Ham fans should know this more than most

was lucky enough to get a ticket to go to the new brentford stadium last night- the game was poor, it was freezing cold and no fuckign beer- apart from that a cracking night.....the whole rainbow laces /BLM bollicks is nauseating- pernicious, intrusive, unecessary, hectoring, patronising i run out of words for it- Brentford has always been a community club and is truly proud of its locals roots in the community and fan base- they even have a deaf coach ffs - yet here they are, big booming, threatening 'doom ' videos telling everyone how they shouldfeel - and of course the BLM bollox with three players now doing the black power salute - all in the name of equality. Really!?

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
The BLM campaign plays into the hands of racists.

Those that are racist will become even more hardline and say “ we told you this would happen “

The soft racists who live in places where all they see are white faces will see all of the statue toppling, the rioting and the violence and become even more wary of people from different backgrounds.

You will never get rid of racism in the UK you will just drive it underground. This campaign has been perfect for the far right and has done nothing to reduce racism.
